Brooke & Bryce

On Sunday, 7th Feburary 2021, I had the opportunity to capture my first event - Brooke & Bryce’s Baby Shower at the Geilston Bay Boat Club.

I was provided with the opportuntiy to photograph their special day by Emma, a dear friend who kindly offered to donate on behalf of them as a gift - thanks so much Em!

Initially, I was nervous about photographing such a special day. Most of my experience behind the camera so far has been snapping photos of still subjects such as cars (who are well behaved and patient with me!).

All of my anxieties were soon extinguished after entering the clubhouse. Within 2 minutes I was holding a beer and being introduced to Brooke and Bryce’s lovely families. Shortly after, we all thought it best to get the formalities out of the way and headed out to the dock to capture the family/group photos. These photos were captured with my Sony GM 24mm f1.4.

For the rest of the afternoon, I benched the Sony GM lens for a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 and attempted to fade into the background a little - using the 75mm focal length to capture moments from a distance and leveraging off people/objects in the room to ‘frame’ poeple where possible. I think that they turned out okay!
